URL Encode/Decode

What is URL encoding?

URL encoding (percent-encoding) replaces characters that are unsafe or reserved in URLs with a % followed by two hexadecimal digits. It's essential whenever you put user text into query parameters, path segments, or form data — spaces become %20, an ampersand becomes %26, and so on.

Features

  • Component mode — Encodes *every* reserved character, mirroring JavaScript's encodeURIComponent. Use this for individual query parameter values and path segments, so characters like &, =, ? and # can't break the surrounding URL.
  • Full URL mode — Preserves URL structure characters (: / ? & = #), mirroring encodeURI. Use this when encoding a complete URL that should stay intact.
  • Decode both ways — Turn percent-encoded strings back into readable text, with clear errors on malformed sequences.
  • Unicode-safe — Emoji, CJK, accents and any other Unicode text are handled correctly via UTF-8.

How to use

1. Pick Encode or Decode and choose the scope (component or full URL)

2. Paste or type your text — the result updates live

3. Copy the output with one click

Privacy

All encoding and decoding happens locally in your browser. Nothing you paste is ever sent to a server.
