Hash Calculator

What is the Hash Calculator?

The Hash Calculator turns any text or file into its cryptographic fingerprint using five widely used algorithms: MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512. A hash function maps data of any size to a fixed-length digest — change a single bit of the input and the output changes completely. Hashes are the backbone of integrity checks, digital signatures, content addressing and data deduplication.

Features

  • Five algorithms at once — MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 computed side by side
  • Text and file input — paste text or drop in a file to verify a checksum
  • One-click copy — grab any individual digest instantly
  • Instant results — hashes update live as you type

How to use

1. Type or paste text into the input panel, or pick a file with the file button.

2. All five digests appear immediately in the results panel.

3. Click the copy icon next to a digest to copy it to your clipboard.

A note on security: MD5 and SHA-1 are considered broken for collision resistance. They remain useful for checksums and legacy compatibility, but prefer SHA-256 or SHA-512 for anything security-sensitive such as signatures or password-adjacent workflows.

Privacy

All hashing runs entirely in your browser using the WebCrypto API (and a local MD5 implementation). Your text and files never leave your device — no uploads, no servers, no logs.
